A brief introduction:
A Former Civil Servant (DWP), Member of Parliament staff, Birmingham City Council employee accumulating over 20 years of experience in Public Service. I, diligently endeavour to impart my independent specialist advice and knowledge of the DWP benefits and BCC services available which you may otherwise not be aware of. In doing so, empowering you to make well informed decisions to achieve your desired outcomes.
I, along with yourselves, am only too aware of the systemic failures of the DWP created by Government pressures on Civil Servants resulting in a below par service. I take it upon myself to walk you step by step to help you navigate the minefield which is the state welfare and benefit system.
Previously as an advisor/support for a prominent Member of Parliament I was entrusted with holding surgeries for constituents. Taking instructions, advising accordingly and thereafter directly liaising with ministerial offices to achieve positive resolutions in a timely manner. All along adhering to parliamentary codes of conduct.
Within the Civil Service I held varying roles and responsibilities across many areas. I worked in numerous JCP offices, Benefit Delivery Centres, processing sites as well as other departments. From a Customer Service Manager, Social Fund loan and grants finance operator, a multiple benefit processor, a job club presenter, as well as a specialist decision maker on disability benefits DLA & PIP to name a few.
Over the course of my working life my sense of purpose derived from meeting and greeting the public while assisting them with their complex matters. Due to continuous changes in operational methods within the DWP/JCP I became increasingly frustrated with the level of personal service I could afford customers. Consequently, not achieving the consistent high levels of job satisfaction I strived to maintain.
As a result, my workplace became a stale environment and no matter how often I changed job roles my enthusiasm and motivation levels remained diminished.
One dull, wet, and gloomy wintery morning I had a moment of inspiration, ‘Why do you continue to be in a job that you find difficult waking up for?.. Do something for yourself!’ My passion for public service had been re-ignited.
Around 13 years into the civil service gaining a wealth of knowledge and experience of the major benefits I felt I could work for welfare organisations such as the Citizens Advice and others alike. I was consciously planning a future away from the DWP.
After thorough research and careful consideration, I concluded, If I were to venture away, I may face similar restrictions as I once did as a civil servant. The advice centres are not only inundated they are also only open on certain days and times, offering general services. This lead me to where I find myself now.
With a niche set of skills, while assisting family, friends, neighbours, and strangers alike I feel like a walking talking mobile advice surgery. So why not?!
I now find myself embarking on a journey to independently assist the public, through increasing their knowledge of the welfare system in particular DWP benefits.
I am also fortunate enough to assemble a team of like minded professionals with varying knowledge and backgrounds and a similar vision who are at your disposal.
Finally, with a heavy heart after hearing countless testimonials through the publics lived experiences, the DWP and the local authorities do not assist you as maybe they ought to.
With this in mind, through working together, we can create fond memories and friendships.
